Redesigning Tichu Card Game

The Tichu Redesign is a personal (fictional) experiment project of Greek Designer Dimitris Chatzelas, where he redesigned the card game Tichu. Dimitris Chatzelas loves typography, logos, branding and Illustration. He believes that good design should be specific in order to be understood and… nothing can be everything without being supported by something.

Tichu (also known as Tai Pan) is a multi-genre card game; primarily a shedding game that includes elements of Bridge, Daihinmin, and Poker played between two teams of two players each. Teams work to accumulate points; the first team to reach a predetermined score (usually 1,000 points) is the winner.
My approach was to redesign not only the whole deck, but make it as a videogame for tablets, smartphones, etc. therefore I designed two stages as an example with a variety of emoticons for players and a responsive – animated scroll down website with basic info and download.
