Recently I was fascinated viewing the website builder Wix.com. Although as a professional web designer, talking about Wix might do bad to my own work (losing potential clients), I must admit they grabbed my attention immediately and made me start thinking about how to use it for those clients that are not willing to pay a lot but still need a wonderful and beautiful website!
- Over 500 templates, easy to use and customize according to your needs.
- Tons of popular web Apps & services
- No coding knowledge required.Drag and Drop your files to easily create your content.
- Mobile optimized
- Great support from the Wix team.
If you are a non-professional web designer and you only want to concentrate on your own portfolio, but you need a cool looking website also, then Wix is the perfect solution for you. Wix requires no coding knowledge, no web developing skills. It’s surprisingly easy to use. Wix is a website builder that’s worth a try (free account). Drag and drop your photos into any of the many galleries designed to inspire your audience. You can connect your Instagram and Facebook feeds to update your site on the go.
Great tool if you are a photographer, designer, illustrator, animator, or a small business. The layouts are impressive and just right for you! Optimized for mobile devices and with a big number of apps available.
There are a lot of Wix reviews that can give you a general idea about performance, pricing and other aspects of this website builder.
In my Wix review, I found that you can have many different functions and design flexibility. You only need to spend some time to learn how to, but no more than 30 minutes.
Discovering the pros of this amazing platform, we cannot ignore the number of users currently using Wix, which exceeds the 100 million people, hosting more than 74 million users, bringing Wix to the top players in the website field. Wix has more than 1.5 million paying subscribers. Wix users are only growing for the last years and very rapidly!
This means, that Wix keeps improving it’s products, templates, apps etc.
Continuing with the pros, Wix offers over 500 professional looking templates but also gives you the ability to create your own custom design.
The Drag and Drop is another powerful tool for Wix users. Choose the photos, text, slideshows you need, and just position them wherever you wish. This makes the developing very easy, but in case you still need support, don’t worry! Wix’s support links are everywhere! Support buttons, phone support, Unique help buttons on each element!
Do you like animations? Wix offers you text and element animation in your site, too!
Unfortunately, Wix has it’s cons as well which you should take into consideration before deciding to become a Wix-User.
One of them is that on the Free platform, they include advertisement logos which you can’t get rid off unless you subscribe to the “Combo” premium package. I would though recommend, to try Wix for free. Design your website, and if you still love what you see, then just upgrade!
One important negative issue Wix has is that you can’t change template after you build one. Although you may find a great number of templates, once you choose one, you have to stick with it. So, please have in mind, to first try as many as you can before starting building the final site.
Wix is offering you e-commerce tools, which is awesome, but if you have more complex e-commerce needs, then Wix may not be the platform for you. Unfortunately, e-commerce tools are not advanced enough to help you fully manage your store. I do hope though that soon they will resolve it since they have already updated parts of it. You can configure your own shipping and handling fees based on shipping destinations and the product price range, set shipping & handling fees, set up tax rates based on your shipping destination, you can also mark each order as “complete”, allowing you to track which orders are still open and needs to be fulfilled.
Even though you don’t need to know coding, it is sometimes frustrating for us who know, when we don’t have access to do some editing on the HTML or CSS.
Finally, I feel excited about Wix. The team has created a very impressive platform that’s worth your time to play around.
