BI NKA BI: The symbol of Peace and Harmony

2015 was another year of war, misery, refugees, injustice, hatred and joy, optimism, success, love … For every person individually and for each nation as a whole …
I chose the symbol that should symbolize the new year of 2016 to be the symbol Bi Nka Bi, symbol of Peace and Harmony (according to the West Africa symbolism of Adinka), with the hope our world to become more beautiful and people love each other …

Adinkra are visual symbols, originally created by the Akan. The symbols have a decorative function but also represent objects that encapsulate evocative messages that convey traditional wisdom, aspects of life or the environment.

BI NKA BI means : “No one should bite the other”. The symbol of Peace and Harmony!
This symbol cautions against provocation and strife. The image is based on two fish biting each other tails.
