Exhibition and book of the history of one hundred years of “Contemporary Graphics of Iran”
Vol. 1- POSTER

The research and writing of this book is now being done by Arash Tanhaei with co-authoring of Mohammad Ardalani. Aydin Aghdashloo and Ebrahim Haghighi are also revising the final product and writing an introduction for the book. The team of judges include Sadegh Barirani, Ghobad Shiva, Reza Abedini, Masoud Nejati, Farzad Adibi, Mahdi Saeedi, Mohammad Ardalani and Parisa tashakori

Black Book is being announced with the aim of enriching the first book “Analytical and historical series of books of hundred years of Contemporary Graphics of Iran”.

The first chapter of this two-volume book will provide details about the origins, all the way up to now regarding the process of designing posters. The conducted research as well as the written material is due to Arash Tanhaei with co-authoring of Mohammad Ardalani. Aydin Aghdashloo and Ebrahim Haghighi are also revising the book and writing an introduction for it.
The second volume is artist oriented and introduces the contemporary artists of Iran and others who are involved in or have contributed in the designing of posters; designing agencies, institutes, companies, public relations, advertisements of offices, private and government organizations and studios. A team of masters, highly skilled in designing posters with different preferences will decide on printable works that will be included in this section of the book.

The goals of call:

  • To make the research and the choosing of the art works less cumbersome for the writers of the history of Contemporary Graphics of Iran book
  • Providing a great opportunity to present the works that may have been overlooked.
  • Providing an opportunity for the companies, organizations, public relations, institutes, advertising, artistic and cultural offices and studios to present themselves and their art.
  • To value to all trends of posters, whether cultural, commercial, religious, political, artistic, cinematic etc.
  • Providing a great opportunity for all designers and active graphic design companies in Iran to be introduced and recognized.

The team of judges:

Sadegh Barirani, Ghobad Shiva, Reza Abedini, Masoud Nejati, Farzad Adibi, Mahdi Saeedi, Parisa tashakori and Mohammad Ardalani.

The conditions of call for designers and organizations:

  • The participants should have been born in Iran and have an Iranian citizenship
  • All companies, institutes, centers, organizations, professional graphic designers and students are free to participate.
  • Posters which are contradictory to the general rules and regulations of the Islamic Republic of Iran will be disqualified and not be allowed to be presented in the exhibition or the book.
  • Posters in other languages except Farsi are only allowed if they are designed in Iranian companies but their translations must be filled in the forms of the Call’s website.
  • The works should be submitted in the web site of the call Poster.Blackbook.Ir or send Email to [email protected] by Tuesday, November 20, 2012
  • The works should be in print size of 100cm × 70 cm in JPG format and RGB with a maximum size of 5 Mb
  • The information in the forms of submission would be used in publications and exhibition therefore the participants are responsible for the accuracy of the information
  • There is no age limitation for the participants
  • There is no limitation on the quantities of their work
  • The participants are free to choose the style and techniques they wish to work with
  • The participants are free to choose their own theme.
  • The secretariat is allowed to use the submitted works in research, exhibitions, advertisements and publications with mentioning the name of the artist
  • All the artists whose art works have been accepted, will receive an entrance card
  • Artists with higher points, will have a higher priority in the second part (artist oriented) of the book
  • Artists who gained the high ranks will have a rare privilege to publish their works in artist’s oriented section in book of Contemporary Graphic of Iran.
  • An exhibition of the best works of this call will be held in Iran Art organization
  • The secretariat recognizes he who has submitted the art works as the owner. If it is proven that the he is not the owner, all privileges will be revoked and the art work will be omitted from the exhibition and publication and there will be legal consequences that will have to be dealt with by the submitter.
  • Deciding on unpredictable events is the responsibility of the organizer.

Terms of call for poster collectors:

  • Any poster collector from any nation can submit his/her posters on the website.
  • If a collector has no digital image of the works that have been collected and wishes for them to take part in the call, it is possible to ask for the works to be photographed by sending an e-mail to Black Book.
  • All cultural, business, religious, political, cinematic and artistic genres can participate in the call.
  • The secretariat is allowed to use the submitted works for research, exhibitions, advertisement and publications with mentioning the name of the artist
  • Posters which are contradictory to the general rules and regulations of the Islamic Republic of Iran will be disqualified and not be allowed to be presented in the exhibition and book.
  • Deciding on unpredictable events is the responsibility of the organizer.

Sponsor and financial and spiritual support:

This project, due to its uniqueness and the inability to be duplicated provides the best conditions for sponsors and supporters. Due to this support, young Iranian artists can register their works with judges’ discretions in the history of Graphic in Iran.
